Board & Train Program: Services

Board & Train

Setting the stages for Success!

The board and train program is typically a 3 week program where your dog is introduced to a 24/7 professional home environment. This is the best way to lay a solid foundation of obedience and structure that will extend a happier and healthier life for you and your dog. Your dog will learn the following commands:

  • “Heel” (walk politely next to/ slightly behind you.)

  • “Place” (Lay calmly and quietly)

  • “Come” (to you Short/Long distance)

  • “Down/Stay (lay down until asked to move)

  • “Sit/Stay” (at doorways before existing and stopping at your side on walks)

At this time we will also address minor behavioral issues such as jumping, pulling on leash, barking, nipping, mouthing etc.

This program is designed to benefit those who have limited time to attend private sessions and put in the necessary repetitions to lay a solid foundation. This program gives you and your dog a new start to build clearer communication.

As your trainer, I am able to provide a working structure with your dog daily.  Ultimately we are creating a more balanced dog, one who can make better decisions at home and more importantly look to you for guidance.

These commands we teach are non-negotiable for your dog.  Your dog is expected to comply. The relationship between you and your dog should be a partnership which creates more reliability and freedom for you and your dog.

Time to reintroduce you to your dog!

Pre- Go Home Session and What will be discussed.

  • Introduction to the commands you will use to communicate with your dog

  • Expectations for when your dog in returned to your home

  • Understanding communication tools and how to use them

  • Understanding the process and measuring the progress your dog has made

  • Question and Answer with client

Final Go Home Session:

  • Session typically last 1-2 hours (not limited to)

  • Hands on working with your dog and the tools provided

  • How and when to use the tools

  • How to continue training at home

Training needs to be reinforced throughout the life of your dog. This is your new lifestyle to a happy, healthy and balanced partnership between you and your dog. Now let’s start the fun!

We require all dogs in this program to be current on vaccines such as Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella and Influenza, fecal test done within the last 6 months and must be negative, as well as current on flea/tick, parasitic and heart worm preventives prior to starting your dog’s program.

Sam’s K9 Training does not operate as a typical boarding kennel; spaces are limited and subject to approval.  Depending on severity of behavioral issue, additional weeks may be needed. This may be determined either at initial consultation or early on in the program. Additional cost may apply.
